About Jason
Jason Paul Smith, originally from North Dakota, has always had a passion for storytelling and the performing arts. He is a seasoned performer and storyteller, having graced the stages of various renowned venues, including the Center for Independent Artists and Medtronic in Minneapolis, as well as Patrick's Cabaret, Steppenwolf Theatre, and Three Cat Productions in Chicago, along with the Skokie Theatre. His performances reflect his deep commitment to the art of storytelling, engaging and inspiring audiences across the Midwest.
In addition to his performances, Jason founded and ran Three Cat Productions from 2010 to 2020, a theater company dedicated to showcasing new works and providing a platform for innovative storytellers. His commitment to the craft of playwriting was recognized in 2009 when he received a prestigious Ragdale Residency for playwrights, further establishing his reputation in the artistic community.
To complement his artistic endeavors, Jason pursued his academics at the University of Minnesota, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre. Driven by a desire to educate and inspire future generations, he furthered his achievements with a Master's in Education from DePaul University.
Currently, Jason teaches 7th and 8th grade English Language Arts at Chicago Public Schools, where he shares his love for literature and storytelling, fostering a dynamic learning environment that encourages creativity and critical thinking. Through his teaching, performances, and contributions to theater, he continues to impact the lives of many, celebrating the power of storytelling in various forms.
